Amanda Sandoval spoke on a new 200 foot notification requirement for zoning variance requests, an update from Marie of Historic Berkeley-Regis, Jay April spoke on affordable housing, safety, and sustainability, Aero Craft Brewing to open this Fall.

Amanda Sandoval

  • Legislative items – 200 foot notification – notifies all property owners via letter that shows what current zoning is, what proposed zoning is, and public process on the rezoning.
  • Overlay process update – plan to make surveys more “user friendly”
    • Looking for architect to do 3-D renderings for overlay
  • Follow up on cross-walk issue; plans to have answers and/or updates from city planning by 6/22

Marie of Historic Berkeley-Regis

  • Letter sent to R. Espinoza re: Blueprint Denver/Denveright Future Place Type Map
    • Sent to David Gaspers for update on Blueprint Denver
      • Taking feedback
  • Plans to complete research on Caldwell House
  • Meeting times available on Facebook page

Jay April

  • Three current projects:
    • Affordable housing
    • Safety of Federal Blvd
    • Enhancing communication between Regis and surrounding communities
  • Meeting July 10 – open community meeting to discuss Regis’ developmental plans for its property over the next decade
  • Sustainability
    • Currently discussing policy development – specifically as to biodiversity
      • To include, among other things, integrated pest management
    • Increase incentives to use public transportation
    • Looking into application to make BRUN a “sustainable neighborhood”
  • Parks and rec – city plans to complete long-range plans by end of this year

Derek List – owner of property at 51st and Lowell

  • Looking to rezone property for mixed-use

Jake – doctoral student at CU Boulder – conducting research on neighborhoods

  • Invites BRUN to submit questions for his survey
  • Neighborhood advisory council meeting – July 30

President’s update
