Safety, Policing & Neighborhood Inspection Committee Contact at issues@berkeleyregisneighbors.org News from the I-70 Corridor Subcommittee This subcommittee looks into issues related to the I-70 corridor from Federal to Sheridan. Recently, a CDOT supervisor in our area was contacted and asked why the entire fence along I-70 from Federal to Sheridan could not be painted, rather than just sections. The fences are a problem for CDOT because paint is very expensive, blasting the paint puts holes through the boards, the fences are always falling, there’s danger of workers being hurt during a repair. A night crew works this area, and prisoners are used for trash pickup. Typically, graffiti removal has a 24-hour turnover or longer. There is talk of a wall along I-70 for us in the future similar to the walls at Wadsworth, at Pena Boulevard, and at Tower Road. The I-70 corridor is a gateway from the east to the mountains, and graffiti, trash, and unrepaired fences denote a neighborhood that needs help. This is not the message we want to send visitors to Denver. The Safety-Policing-Neighborhood Inspection Committee is committed to keeping on top of this issue. News from the Denver Police Department District One has a new Commander and Community Resource Officer! Please see the News and Events page for more information.
